Last week

Hello everyone,
I think, that I am very lucky that I was one of the participants of this course.
Every week I’ve known something new and helpful for me.
The first week was the most difficult. We created our blogs, joined Nicenet and participated in discussion, loaded links on Donna’s Wiki.
The second Week focused on websearching tools and learning objectives.
On the third week we created Delicious page, the tool I used at my lesson.
On the fourth  week I created a technology-enhanced plan. I will use the template for  planning my lessons.
The fifth week was devoted assessment tools. We created rubrics on Rubricstar. I think that rubrics has many positive moments:
1) It  is an easy and quick way to score student’s works.
2) It is a convenient way for organizing self-assessment and etc.
On the sixth week we created Interactive PPP (Jeopardy game). I used the PPP for my final lessons with children. My children enjoyed the game very much.
On the seventh week  we discussed two issues: learning autonomy and working in one-computer classroom. I am in great interest of fostering learning autonomy  at our university.
The eighth lesson was very helpful for me, because I created my wiki. Now my students have opportunity to load their works on my wiki.
Week 9 was devoted making our project work. I think it is a good idea to find partner for checking drafts. It was very useful and interesting.
Unfortunately, this week is the last week.  I wish the course lasted longer. There are a  lot of resources and tools for studying in Internet.
Thank you very much Donna for your instructions and well composed course!
Thank you to all participants for your responsiveness.
Be happy and lucky.

Week 9

Hello everyone!
Unfortunately, I’m late with my blog. Summer came in our town. It's hot and sunny. Yesterday it was gradational party in kinder garden.  This year my son will go to school!
This week was very busy. We studied the articles about learning styles and finished our project.
May be I need more work on my project, but time is over. I like to work with Jules, I am very thankful him for his checking comments. I’ve redone one point in my project according his advise. I don't know how my project will be assessed, but this work will help me very much with my research work. I think I will continue implementation of the tools and  use the project templates  for monitoring results.

Thank you so much!!!All the best,Marina

Week 8

Hello everyone,

I feel myself tied, but satisfied after this week .I’ve known about new  tools and on-line instruments.I created  my own Wiki in spite of new version on Google. It is quite different from the previous version. But  I’ve managed and I feel  that I am becoming more selfish and experienced in work with on- line tools and instruments.
I’ve written the draft of my project and checked the draft plan of my partner.
Writing project took me  much time , but I think there are  a lot for reworking. It is the end of the course and I very sorry to finish, because I’ve just began to understand the whole opportunities of internet resources for teaching.See you .Buy.

Week 7

Hello all,
This week I keep working on implementing WebQuest  and I hope the result will be good. My students should show their PPP on the 29th of May. Also I will use Jeopardy for the last lesson with my children. But I will have to make it more entertaining.
I am very interested in the problem of autonomous learning. I read the articles with great enthusiasm.
It is very actual topic in our university because, for example, the students of applied mathematics have only 60 a.h. for English lessons  for the first year, but at the same time the leadership of our university wants our students  pass FSE and take part in international projects. According the situation the only way out is implementation  the concept of learner autonomy. In this way students  should take active role in the learning process, creating new ideas and availing themselves
Thank you William for you comment and good mark for my first We Quest.  I hope we will be partners in making projects.
All the best,
Buy

Week 6

Hello all,
This week was very interesting for me. I finished my WebQuest and used it on my lesson. My students weren't surprised, they knew how to use WebQuests, but they liked the links which I'd found for them. I hope they will prepare good  presentations for credit. Here the link for my WebQuest -
Also  I did my first Jeopardy Game. I'm going to use it on my lesson for my little pupils.
And I was very proud to know that I was English  lady in my previous life. So that's why I so much like English language and everything which is connected with England.

See you,
Marina

Week 5

This week I read  3 articles about alternative assessment, learning projects, rubrics and WebQuest.I very often listened this magic word - WebQuest. One of my colleague’ research is devoted using WebQuests in study proccess. But I can't  imagine what it is WebQuest. Now I' ve done my own WebQuest and it wasn't very difficult. May be my first WebQuest isn't very good and many things I took from another WebQuests, but it was exiting. Also I did my first rubrics and I was very nervous when it's appeared a window "You have 15 minutes to finish". I thought that my work wouldn't be saved. But everything was OK.

In Russia on the 5th of May is The Easter. So we cook Easter cakes, paint eggs and go to the church to bless these dishes.

We say in Russia - "Isus voskresse!"(Jesus was risen)/
And the answer - "Voistinu voskresse!"(Truly he was risen)
Happy Easter!

Week 4 Reflection

Dear all,
I’m very appreciate all your comments. Thank you.
This week was given us for thinking and analysing different technology –enhanced study activities and then creating technology-enhanced lesson plan for our students. To say the truth I seldom write such a detail lesson plan, so it took me much time to create it according the template. And when I conducted a lesson, I felt myself very selfish having some technology alternative (in case things don't work as planned). I read participants’ posts about problems they faced and think that students are becoming lazy, don’t want to make any effort just to read or find some information, they need a “lesson candy” – something exiting and with good results. But “For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them (Aristotle)”.A teacher with a new technology tool just can help, but students should work hard for improving their English. Are you agree?

Saturday, April 20, 2013

Hello,
Week 3 was very productive. I read very useful articles about aural /oral skills, surfed a lot of interesting sites, created Delicious site, explored Project works. I think about my Project and how to do this Project without students (I'll see them in October). May be I can invite them to take part by e-mail. Not all, but some of them may agree to take part in the project. May be yes? May be not? I'll try... It's 2 a.m. in Arkhangelsk. Time for sleeping. And 2 p.m. (Oregon time).
 Good afternoon!

Week 2 Web-searching

Dear participants,

I was happy to receive and read all your comments. Thank you for your advices. It’s so exiting to have your own blog! For this week I did many usuful things:  knew and tried websearching tools, created my own ABCD learning objective, analysed my group for Project , communicate with other participants of the course.Yesterday I watched the film “Julia and July”. The film contrasts the life of chef Julia Child in the early years of her culinary career with the life of young New Yorker Julie Powell, who aspires to cook all 524 recipes in Child's cookbook in 365 days, a challenge she described on her popular blog . And I think that we do just the same as Julie. We have 10 weeks and about 30 recipes to make our lessons modern and effective with help of web-technologies. And we should describe and analyze our work on our blocks. I can wish all of you “Bon appétit!”

Week 1 Reflection

Hello everyone!
The course is well-composed. There are a lot of useful materials on the course website, but unfortunately I haven’t enough time to study all materials carefully. It’s unusual for me to study on-line. I thought that it’s easier than face-to-face learning, but I was mistaken. It is very difficult to manage your time and to explain my family that I need evening time for learning. I have some problems with making my blog – Internet Explore interrupted the connection every time when I tried to write my post. But I was happy to  all my small victories: participating in class discussions and making my own blog. Thank you very much for clear instructions.
